The SPD-2 Claymore is a shotgun used by the rebel group Arm of Orion and its ally the Orion's Spear.
History[]
The SPD-2 Claymore has seen extensive use during the Outer Rim War. First used by the Arm of Orion to quickly take control of urban colony areas and factories, it was used in the killing of civilians with personal shields or agitators who interfered with priorities.
During the Arm's pitched battles with USIF soldiers in the later stages of the war, the Claymore proved to be a highly lethal weapon with advanced mechanics tuned specifically for use against the Arm's enemies.
Design[]
The SPD-2 has a quick clip detachment design rather than a cock-back feature of the MAG-3B, which can give the user a quicker reload, but can also be prone to accidentally being pulled out, whereas the Anvil's clip is impossible to misplace due to the fact that the charge is locked into the chamber. The Claymore also features mounting rails on the upper barrel which can support a myriad of devices.
The weapon utilizes the Mk2 electromagnetic jacketing system. Each 20-gauge slug (filled with titanium bearings) is coated in a harmonically tuned electromagnetic field, proving especially lethal at disabling shields, piercing armor, and shredding flesh at close range.
