Mining Lasers are a type of mining system utilized by both moving mining platforms and static sites on Boreas. They are also likely used on many other planets as well. Mining Laser systems are automated, but can be controlled by human operators from nearby remote stations.

On Boreas, they are used to cut through thick ice to access precious recources (chiefly galavenium and titanium) deep below the frigid planetary surface. When operating at full strength, these high-intensity beams are lethal even to those wearing USIF Powered Assault Armor.
