The REC-74 War Dragon is the standard assault rifle used by both the rebel group Arm of Orion and its supplier, the Orion's Spear.
History[]
The REC-74 is the Arm's counterpart to the AR-548 Scimitar assault rifle used by the USIF. Created by means of reverse-engineering the USIF's slightly older AR-546, it is the Arm of Orion's standard issue infantry weapon. Thanks to similar schematics, the War Dragon has the exact same performance as the Scimitar, but has slightly different physical features due to reverse-engineering.
After finding how effective the REC-74 was in combat, the Arm eventually began to reverse-engineer every USIF weapon captured in combat.
Design[]
The REC-74 War Dragon uses the same primary components as the AR-548 Scimitar assault rifle. It is similar in destructive capabilities, and can deal out damage just as well as the Scimitar.
The War Dragon fires the same 15x45mm rail-propelled armor-piercing slugs, coated with the same Mk2 EMJ projectile system as the AR-548, due to reverse-engineering. It also features the same battery clip system as the AR-548.
Upgrade[]
Newer models retain all basic features of the original War Dragon like the Mk2 EMJ system and rail-propelled rounds, but features a sleeker design, a larger battery clip that now holds ninety rounds, larger smartlink scope, improved rate of fire, and improved muzzle stability that greatly reduces bullet spread over prolonged fire.
In addition, the improved War Dragon is now able to incorporate different ammo modifications like the original rail rounds or harder hitting slug rounds that are more effective against armor, but less so against shielding; the weapon can even have a "smart" ammo mod installed into it, allowing it to automatically switch between rail rounds during medium to long range skirmishes, and then to slug rounds for close range confrontations.
